Complex contagion, Community structure, Information diffusion and communities, Message passing

The paper’s tree-like approximation builds on Gleeson (2008).

Relationship with Message passing: it averages activation probabilities by degree and community on an infinite-tree approximation. Its parent-excluding recursion nevertheless has the same cavity structure as population-averaged message passing: it computes an auxiliary activation probability from the remaining $k-1$ neighbors, then reconstructs the final node activation probability using all $k$ neighbors.
