Don't ask to ask, just ask

2026-07-28 → 2026-08-08

In an asynchronous chat, ask the actual question instead of first asking whether anyone is available or knowledgeable enough to answer it. Giving the problem and relevant context immediately lets people decide whether they can help, avoids an unnecessary round trip, and does not exclude someone who knows the answer through adjacent experience.

Related: XY problem, where someone asks about an attempted solution rather than explaining the underlying problem.
