Before submitting to arXiv#
You usually submit LaTeX source files so that arXiv compiles it. That means your source file is exposed to public and this can lead to embarrassing situations. Also, there’s a size limit for the paper and that means you may want to adjust the figures to make it smaller.

I packaged these into a Claude Scholar skill (/arxiv-prep) that automates the cleanup and submission preparation—cleaning the source, building the tarball, and extracting metadata for the submission form.
Linking arXiv papers#
When sharing arXiv papers, use the abs page URL, not the direct PDF link — the abstract page gives context, metadata, and version history.
